Garden

The group exhibition Garden představuje soubor děl současných autorů a autorek, kteří ve své tvorbě různorodě reflektují vztah člověka k přírodě, k procesu růstu, proměny a soužití.

The exhibition Garden is curated by the artistic group Hilda kolektiv – Adina Chmelová, Barbora Šaroun Šemberová a Patricie Weinrichová – které do projektu zároveň vstupují i autorsky.  Ke spolupráci přizvaly umělkyně a umělce: Jana Soumara, Ľubomíra Golise, Karolínu Klimešovou, Markétu Soukupovou, Veroniku Vlkovou a Prokopa Pithartato collaborate. The selection reflects diverse approaches, ranging from drawing and painting to ceramics, paper-based works, and video.

The installation is set within the wall-mounted exhibition shelving at Café Vzlet, working with a unifying visual element — an abstract green background evoking a blurred landscape, perceived more through inner vision than direct observation. The color green serves as a symbol of calm, rootedness, and return to the natural environment.

“If you live in accordance with nature, you will never be poor; if you live according to the opinion of others, you will never be rich.” — Epicurus

The Greek philosopher Epicurus once bought a house with an extensive garden and founded a school in Athens. This school came to be known as Képos (Garden) or Epicurus’ Garden, named after the place of gathering and learning. Just as he explored the relationship between humans and nature through dialogue, learning, and philosophy, the exhibition in Café Vzlet’s wall-mounted shelving system invites visitors to reflect.

According to Epicurus’ teachings, it is possible to achieve a state of pleasure in the garden, where one feels neither bodily pain nor inner unrest. Here, pleasure is not understood as earthly indulgence, but as satisfaction arising from the pursuit of knowledge, reason, and learning. The exhibition creates a space to slow down, where the outer world intersects with the individual’s inner landscape, opening the possibility of communion with nature and understanding it — a place to detach from fears, a space that requires care and attention.

Wunderkammer

Microcosms, Small Universes, Theatres of the World, Mini Museums... diverse objects from distant corners of the world — but also the most ordinary in appearance, shape, and origin — have been collected in Wunderkammern (Cabinets of Curiosities)for centuries. Symbolically, people assign meanings to these objects, which may gain significance over time, lose it, be forgotten, or acquire new value through subsequent appropriation. These are the items that surround us and help shape our perception. Special pieces are selected by someone else, setting a standard for taste — whether through their own work or that of others.

The exhibition at Café Vzlet offers a glimpse into the curiosities of seven female artists. Their work is united by a thirst for knowledge and an ongoing desire to collect — not only objects, but also the empirically accumulated mix of personal stories they carry.

Subtle Synergy

The works are displayed within the café’s shelving system at the Vzlet Cultural Center. They communicate through shared elements, creating a collective impact that can be understood as a synergy of themes drawn from natural environments or their fragments. The exhibition explores organic structures and their modification, with tangible references to folklore, ornamentation, and traditional skills, reinterpreted in contemporary practice.
The exhibition Subtle Synergy offers an overview of the work of emerging Czech artists. The selection of works, which will be on view in the shelving throughout the season, was assembled by the artistic group Hilda kolektiv.
